Introduction

Greetings everyone from the first days of March! Today, we have SoundPEATS’ new model, the Cove Pro, which is reshuffling the deck in the over-ear world. We know the brand’s success with the Air5 Pro and H3 models; but can the Cove Pro, with its titanium drivers and LDAC support, meet an audiophile’s expectations? Or let me rephrase the question: what else does this headphone offer besides its massive 95-hour battery life? Let’s take a closer look.

The product in my hands was sent to me by Soundpeats for an independent and honest review. I thank them for accepting our principles of honesty.

Design & Build

Cove Pro has moved away from SoundPEATS’ usual flashy logos and focused on minimalism. It looks quite stylish with its matte black surface and protein leather cushions. Weighing in at 250 grams, it feels almost weightless on your head and doesn’t cause any pressure even during long listening sessions. The only drawback is that it doesn’t come with a carrying case. The box only contains a cable and those cute stickers I see on every SoundPEATS product.

The hinges are foldable and look sturdy. The pad depth is quite sufficient, and the cups feature R and L letters, a classic design. One thing caught my attention here; the flat, fabric-like structure in front of the R and L letters felt quite thick to me, and this raised some acoustic concerns in my mind. We’ll see in the sound section if this has a negative effect.

Technology

95 hours of battery life without ANC, wow! That’s truly incredible battery life. Of course, with ANC on, it drops to ~58 hours, which is still a lot. The Cove Pro comes with Bluetooth 6.0, features ANC and ambient modes, and is equipped with a full 7 microphones. If you ask my opinion on the ANC, I’d say it’s not amazing but sufficient. You can’t expect $300-level ANC from a device at this price point, but it’s still adequate and good. I liked the call quality; I could easily make calls even on a commuter train.

(Yeah, pics belongs to H3. Because is the same thing)

All that aside, the app support is fantastic. I wrote extensively about this in the H3 review, so I won’t go into too much detail here. The app is both very useful and packed with features. There are various EQ options, including adaptive EQ. I personally didn’t use the dynamic bass and surround features much. But slightly reducing the midbass with the EQ was really great.

Sound

To put it bluntly, the Cove Pro has a sound that’s quite capable for the price. Don’t expect anything audiophile-grade. It has a V-shaped sound profile, and you get plenty of bass. But the instruments aren’t muddled, and there’s enough detail—the cymbals ring out like mermaids swimming freely 🙂 I think it’ll suit many people’s needs for listening to hip-hop, EDM, R&B, etc., in everyday life.

Going into more detail, I found the midbass a bit excessive and cut it a little with the EQ, which made the sound much better. This time, I thought such an intervention was appropriate rather than using the preset profiles. The resolution is sufficiently high. Other than that, the sound isn’t completely homogeneous; the highs are slightly more defined, but it’s not a big problem. I think it has sufficient layering and imaging capabilities for a headphone at this level. It has a pleasant and musical sound.

Last Words

The Soundpeats Cove Pro is a V-shaped headphone that’s perfect for enjoyable music listening and sufficient for everyday use when you’re not listening with audiophile ears. They offer high entertainment value and perfectly adequate sound performance for everyday use. Add to that a massive 95-hour battery life, good call quality, adequate ANC performance, comfort, and excellent app support, and I think they’re well worth the price. I honestly enjoyed listening to hip-hop with the Cove Pro while walking 🙂
